Listing Your Boat

Listing your boat with Farallone Yacht Sales is a straightforward process – all it takes is a phone call or email from you to one of our licensed sales people. That first contact determines who will become your listing agent, i.e., your key point of contact when it comes to the care of your boat at our docks. However, once your listing is up and running, our entire staff is active on your behalf, showing your boat to prospective buyers and bringing you offers.

Prior to activating your listing, your listing agent will complete a visual inspection of your boat and ask you to complete inventory and service disclosure forms as thoroughly as possible. If your boat is to be kept at our docks, a slip rental agreement is signed. It is also important that we have a copy of your current insurance certificate and documentation or registration in your file.

Multiple photographs of both the exterior and the interior of your vessel are taken, and your listing agent then creates a profile for Yacht World, the multiple listing service of the yachting industry. You will also be added to our on-site marketing materials, our website, and our monthly Latitude 38 print advertising.

Our prominent location at Sales Dock 10 ensures excellent daily foot traffic (especially for the monthly Open Boat weekends), which is why we always suggest that you keep your boat with us. However, we have also been selling boats to Hawaii, Vancouver and Australia so our customers truly come from all over. Your monthly berthing fee includes regular washings and electricity, and your boat will be checked frequently to ensure safety and secure systems. Please contact us directly at 510-523-6730 to learn more.

When an offer comes in, we have a very simple process. A $2,000 refundable check goes into the brokerage escrow account and a final purchase is contingent upon a satisfactory test sail and surveys. Test sails area arranged at no charge to you. We are with the prospective buyer(s) every step of the way, often even training on the water after the sale. We work hard to ensure a seamless, happy transition for both our sellers and our buyers, and many of our customers now span a couple of generations, coming back to us to either buy or to sell.
